What are meter & radiator keys?

If you are looking for a radiator bleeding key that is quick and easy to use, then look no further. When are meter & radiator keys used?

Radiator keys can be used to remove unwanted air from radiators, replace parts such as radiator plugs and valves, along with draining an individual radiator or entire system before maintenance or repair work. Meter keys are used to gain access to your electric or gas meter boxes to take a meter reading or allow access for any maintenance work.

Considerations when choosing a meter & radiator key

Multi-purpose use - Some radiator keys are designed to be used for a single task, such as bleeding a radiator, where as multi keys (sometimes known as universal keys) incorporate several types of key and spanner.

Radiator Key Type - There are a variety of keys dependent on the radiator job that needs completing such as; a bleed key, four way key, three-legged key, double-ended key, radiator spanner and air release key, combination wrench/key, stepped ratchet key, radiator tail socket, and radiator valve spanner.

Which way do I turn the radiator key?
To bleed a radiator, turn anticlockwise to open the valve and clockwise to close the valve.

What size radiator key do I need for my radiator?
There are a variety of radiator bleed keys available at Cromwell, all of which are very similar but not identical. If you are having difficulties finding a key to suit the size of your radiator valve, you can speak to one of the Cromwell experts for advice and whether we have a product suitable.
